Fiona Chan is a seasoned litigation lawyer whose practice focuses on white-collar defence and financial litigation. She advises and represents individuals, professionals, and businesses in criminal, regulatory, and complex financial disputes where legal, commercial, and reputational considerations often intersect.
Fiona began her legal career as a barrister in Hong Kong in 2010. Over the next eight years, she defended clients in serious criminal matters, prosecuted on behalf of the Department of Justice, and litigated complex civil and commercial disputes. Those experiences sharpened skills that textbooks cannot teach: how to read a room, understand what a witness is protecting, and see what the evidence reveals beyond its face.
After returning to Toronto, Fiona was called to the Ontario Bar in 2019. Since then, she has represented businesses, professionals, and individuals in corporate and commercial disputes, financial litigation, and other high-stakes matters involving complex factual and financial issues.
Fiona holds an MBA and a Global Professional LLM in Business Law from the University of Toronto. Her business education, combined with practice experience across criminal defence, commercial litigation, and financial disputes in two jurisdictions, provides a distinctive foundation for advising clients facing white-collar investigations, regulatory proceedings, and complex financial litigation.
Her practice is built on the belief that effective advocacy requires more than legal knowledge. It requires careful judgment, a multidisciplinary understanding of the issues, and the ability to see beyond the surface of the evidence. Fiona combines meticulous legal analysis with commercial insight and practical judgment to develop deliberate strategies that address not only the legal issues in dispute, but also the broader financial, professional, and reputational consequences facing her clients.
