Renatta is a family law barrister*. She graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and was Called to the Ontario Bar in 2013. Her practice is focused on resolving complex child protection and family law disputes in court. Renatta is a strategic thinker who has a strong command of the law, extensive courtroom experience, and a reputation for getting the job done. She has litigated some of the most challenging family court cases, including those involving allegations of family violence/coercive control, alienation, incapacity, child sexual abuse, unexplained injuries and death, secure treatment, child abduction and relocation, children’s privacy rights, and money disputes.
Renatta previously founded the Eglinton West Law Office, has worked as in-house counsel with the Peel Children’s Aid Society and the Office of the Children’s Lawyer, and has been appointed as amicus curiae to assist the court at trial. Renatta has taught courses on evidence, trial advocacy, family law and child protection, and she regularly contributes to continuing legal education programs for child protection and family lawyers.
Renatta values her family, living a joyful life, and cultivating community prosperity. She is actively involved with her child’s school and extracurricular activities and is currently a member of the Crosstown Family Health Team’s Board of Directors. She is a former director of the Women’s Health in Women’s Hands Community Health Centre, Parkdale Community Legal Services, and the York-Eglinton Business Improvement Area.
*Renatta’s practice is restricted to trial and appellate advocacy. She does not assist with domestic contracts or out-of-court alternative dispute resolution.
