- Extensive experience and expertise in conveyancing, development, restructuring and financing of residential, commercial and industrial properties (including manufacturing facilities, office towers, shopping centres, sports complexes, hospitals, resorts and condominiums)
- Acts for a variety of landlords and tenants in connection with leasing and lease-related transactions for commercial, industrial, office and retail premises in lease negotiations, preparation, restructuring, financing and enforcement
- Spent most of his career as a partner at Faskens, a major Canadian national law firm, and has recently completed five years as Counsel at Baker & McKenzie
Representative Work
- Acted for a major developer in connection with the sale of a 50% interest in a large downtown Toronto office and retail complex, including amendments to ground leases, new concurrent leases and financing arrangements
- Represented an international mining firm in sale of adjoining properties in Ontario, including severances and establishment of a shared roadway and a railway crossing
- Acted in real estate and leasing aspects of significant asset and share acquisitions, dispositions and financings
- Acted for a non-profit corporation in connection with the negotiation and preparation of a lease and related documents for a lease for a long-term care facility, which transaction included demolition of a former hospital and development arrangements with the Ontario government
- Represented an Ontario Crown corporation in preparing standard documentation for sale and leaseback transactions and in preparing and negotiating several commercial leases for a variety of properties
- Experience in connection with pipelines and other easements
