Joining the firm in 2024, and based in Toronto, Mitch channels his passion for human rights and public service towards advocating for Indigenous rights and self-determination and is pleased to serve clients in Ontario and Manitoba.
Mitch began practicing in civil litigation, state accountability, Aboriginal, and constitutional law at a boutique firm, and now takes on a broad range of Aboriginal law and Indigenous legal matters. Mitch helped set precedent at the Supreme Court of Canada to affirm Indigenous Peoples’ jurisdiction over child and family services. He also helped negotiate a landmark settlement to search for unmarked burial sites on lands controlled by hostile public institutions.
Drawing on his prior career as a journalist, Mitch prioritizes clear communication and effective storytelling to amplify his clients’ voices. In 2018, Mitch began his legal journey at the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He took a leadership role in planning Aboriginal law conferences, served as a Dean’s Fellow in Indigenous Legal Traditions, and worked at the community legal clinic. Mitch frequently volunteers in political, social justice, and human rights campaigns.
Mitch is dedicated to supporting his clients in navigating complex legal landscapes in and out of the courtroom.
